I’m happy to announce that Jerry’s Artarama has just released my newest Oil Painting Dvd, entitled “SHALLOW FALLS”.
This project utilizes an Acrylic basecoat, over which Oils are applied. The key to this approach is in letting the dark background show through, which yields a great deal of depth to the rocks and water areas. Tips for rendering foliage are also highlighted.
Also, for you budding Watercolorists, be on the look-out for my next instructional Dvd , “NEW ENGLAND WINTER”, which will be available in the very near future.
This lesson will focus on many common Watercolor techniques, such as using “paper white”, masking fluid, wet washes and dry-brush texture.
Both videos are presented in a straightforward, step-by-step approach, which is suitable for all skill levels.

Hi Wilson,
I'm excited about the new release of "SHALLOW FALLS". I will DEFINITELY be getting that soon.
I also like using acrylics underneath oils, but, have only been using a couple of acrylic colors,...mainly black & grey. I need to get brave and use a few more different acrylic colors underneath the oils.
Funds permitting, I would one day soon like to also purchase "NEW ENGLAND WINTER" for a special friend who has done lovely watercolor landscapes in the past. I hope it will spur her back into watercolor painting again.
Wilson, thanks again for the new DVDs you created. I always look forward to seeing what you've painted next. It's an adventure.
Amy
Thank you, Amy. I often underpaint with acrylics, sometimes black, sometimes light blue or yellow, depending on the theme and the result I'm after. It adds a lot of flexibility to a project.
Hey Wilson! Congrats on the DVD's :) Did you guys feel the tremors yesterday? Our building at work literally wobbled for about 30 seconds...yikes! Hope all is well with you.

Actually, I was in my vehicle on the highway when it ocurred, so I didn't have a clue about it. My wife works at the bank though, and she said her office "wiggled" a little.
Yes, all is well here, I'm just WAY too busy these days.
Any feedback on your cards?
No feedback. I've put it on the shelf for now, its year end at work so I'm too busy with that :) Blah! Anyways hope you get some vacation time soon!
Vacation? What's THAT?? lol
Lmao!!! No kidding eh?! :) I forget what it is to be on vacation too! Ok, then I hope you have a moment of peace at some point this summer heehee!
Since I've become "self-employed" several years ago, I gave up those 5 weeks of "paid" vacation from my former job. When I had to "use or lose" that time off, it was always easy to plan a way to do it. Since I can take time whenever I really want to now, I just never seem to do it. There's no pressure to use it up. And besides that, I'm a self-confessed workaholic(*wink* )
Haha! I hope to be self employed one day! :) who would be a workaholic with a job they love eh?
*wouldn't* oops! You know what I meant ;)
That's very true. It doesn't seem like work ( though it surely can be at times ) when you do something you're passionate. I'm very lucky, indeed.
:)
